It also contains hundreds of new and updated photographs and illustrations, as well as environmental and conservation tips. Moving quickly from basic concepts to the study of today's most complex welding technologies, each section begins by introducing your students to the materials, equipment, setup procedures, and critical safety information they need to know to successfully execute a specific process. Remaining chapters in the section focus on individual welding tasks and must-know techniques. Comprehensive coverage spans from specific welding processes to related topics, including welding metallurgy, metal fabrication, weld testing and inspection, joint design, and job costing. Additionally, WELDING: PRINCIPLES AND APPLICATIONS 7E contains expanded material on Plasma Cutting, FCAW, GMAW, and new Chapters on Shop Math, Reading Technical Drawings, and Fabricating. Objectives, key terms, review questions, lab experiments, and practice exercises included in every chapter will help focus your students' attention on information and skills required for success as a professional welder.

Bought this version after getting the 6th edition in hardcover (oops). This review is for the Kindle version ONLY.
E-waste.
Most books go through an editor, get some layout done, someone reviews the finished product. This book was put together by someone operating a camera or scanner, grabbing pictures of the pages from a printed text. Bad OCR software was used to generate the text and infer bold/italics.
Reading the chapter on safety, I was cautioned about the dangers of "chunk" keys left in drills.
Often, the bold-face type signifying "Figure 1.23" was applied to "This is some body text", making it very difficult to follow. Reading required an active reverse-engineering of the text. A bizarre context shift indicated an aside, a figure description, or another section had been stuffed in the text.
Images with text in them were unreadable. Table 1.2: Recommended Skills for Various Welding Occupations, was included in the Kindle version, but it's just a blurry fuzz that gets fuzzier as you zoom in. Can't read a word of it. Consistently, if you come across what would have been a full "page" image in the hardcover, you get nothing but fuzz in the Kindle edition.
The chapter on blueprints? Forget about it.
It's a shame, too. The hardcover 6th edition Welding: Principles and Applications 6th Ed. (Textbook & Study Guide/Lab Manual) (which I also bought, without the lab manual) deserves every bit of its 5-star rating.
Let's add insult to injury. Bought it? Discovered it's awful? You're stuck with it; no returns.
