Honestly this was a great series from the start. Honestly after putting one volume down you'll want to go out and buy the next volume, and then read it again.
This is the last volume for this series, now don't get me wrong I love this series, but i was left feeling slightly empty handed in this last volume. I say this because I feel like everything was just bunched together for a quick ending. But I did love it all the same!
One thing i really liked even though i felt this last volume was bunched together I like how there was a bit of suspense as you read you keep wondering what happened to this and that (trying not to give anything away anything that would spoil it) but it really gets you going and making you want to jump pages to find out what happens!

Black Bird Volume 18 brings the series to a close. With two chapters concluding the Soh story arc and then two additional chapters to finish the overall story.
Misao is due soon with their son Soh and wedding plans have to be made. She's worried about how to tell her mother she is marrying a Tengu lord and also about complications from the pregnancy. But all will work out in the end, she believes, until complications from the pregnancy could very well mean the end of her life. Soh is born but not without consequences to both Misao and Kyo.
I appreciate that mangata Sakurakouji doesn't take the easy way out for a very happily ever after - Kyo and Misao had to fight the entire way for their relationship and that struggle continues on with the birth of Soh. None of the magic from the earlier volumes is lost but we also get a very definitive and bittersweet ending.
In all, a great conclusion to the series.
Received as an ARC from the publisher.
