I find it incredibly difficult to play with my children. I have bought all sorts of toddler/preschooler activity idea books that either involve groups of children or a mess of crafts, neither of which make play easy. This book, while intending to expose young children to math concepts, provides many simple ideas to bring out the playful parent in fun-challenged people. The math skills are a bonus that come along with a better relationship with one's child.

This little book packs a great deal of math education and early education research in it. Written by a mathematician and educator, it introduces young children to the gems of mathematical thinking at the very early age. The activities were pilot-tested in mathematical circles around the country, and proven to be exciting and captivating to the children. This book makes a wonderful gift, too.
