I recently bought a Galaxy after using Apple products and Windows. Although I am an experienced user, the learning curve for the Android system was steep for me. I tried the on-line manual by Samsung which is basically worthless, Vakin's Mastering the Galaxy (nearly as bad), Hughes's Help Me Guide which is better but far from complete, and the Schwartz which I have found very helpful. For various reasons I push the Galaxy pretty hard and actually use some of the more advanced features. I have yet to find a question that the Schwartz book couldn't answer. As with many books, the index is not always helpful but... I suppose for an absolute beginner who just wants to make calls and perhaps to use the calendar and email, this book is probably overkill. Parenthetically, someone with only such basic needs would surely be better off with a different device. Absolute beginners could use the Hughes with profit, but the Schwartz is indispensable for the more advanced user. It is complete and, perhaps more important, clear sometimes with the slight downside of redundancy and over-explanation. But still -- excellent.

Having never owned a smart phone, this book really gave us all the detail that we needed. Highly recommend this book.
